Outlook on Office 365 Need password login prompt disappears
Today I had an issue with a user using Outlook on Office 365 where Outlook says “Need password” on the bottom right hand corner however when you click it the login prompt does not appear.
I tried closing Outlook and re-opening to find the username/password box flashes and disappears quickly.
Solution 1:
- Open Start button -> Settings -> Accounts -> Access work or school.
- Click disconnect
- Close and re-open Outlook.
Solution 2:
- Close down Outlook
- Add a DWORD named DisableADALatopWAMOverride with a value of 1 to the registry in this path:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\
- Open Outlook and try now. If this doesn’t help try restart.
In my experience I tried solution 1 and the problem came back again. I have tried solution 2 and it immediately started working (without a restart).
Fixed 🙂
